Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus Medications, Costs & Savings
Pharmacist insight
Anti-seizure medications require careful monitoring of blood levels to ensure therapeutic effectiveness. I advise patients never to switch between brand and generic without consulting their pharmacist, as even small differences in absorption can affect seizure control. Medication adherence is the single most important factor.

About Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus
Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH) is a often-misunderstood condition causing walking difficulties, memory issues, and bladder control problems. While its symptoms can mimic other age-related disorders, NPH is often treatable. TheDrugClub helps patients manage the costs of necessary medications and supplies, making treatment more accessible and affordable for our members.
Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH) is a unique and often reversible brain disorder that can significantly impact a person's quality of life. Characterized by an abnormal buildup of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) in the brain's ventricles, NPH differs from other forms of hydrocephalus because the pressure within the brain often remains within the normal range when measured by a lumbar puncture. This can make it a challenging condition to diagnose, as its symptoms can easily be mistaken for Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, or simply the natural effects of aging.
The classic triad of NPH symptoms includes gait disturbance (difficulty walking, often described as a shuffling or magnetic gait), cognitive impairment (problems with memory, thinking, and executive function), and urinary incontinence (loss of bladder control). These symptoms tend to develop gradually, and their slow progression often leads to delayed diagnosis. Early and accurate diagnosis is crucial, as NPH is one of the few causes of dementia-like symptoms that can be effectively treated.
