About SIADH, the broader condition

This overview covers SIADH in general, not SIADH Off-Label specifically.

SIADH, or Syndrome of Inappropriate Antidiuretic Hormone Secretion, is a condition where the body produces too much ADH, leading to excessive water retention and dangerously low sodium levels (hyponatremia). TheDrugClub helps members afford these essential prescriptions, ensuring you can prioritize your health without financial stress.

### What is SIADH?

SIADH stands for Syndrome of Inappropriate Antidiuretic Hormone Secretion. Antidiuretic hormone (ADH), also known as vasopressin, is a hormone produced by the hypothalamus and released by the pituitary gland. Its primary role is to regulate water balance in the body by telling the kidneys how much water to conserve. In SIADH, too much ADH is released, even when the body doesn't need to conserve water. This leads to the kidneys reabsorbing too much water, diluting the body's sodium levels, a condition known as hyponatremia.

Symptoms of SIADH can vary depending on the severity and speed of sodium reduction. Mild hyponatremia might cause subtle symptoms like nausea, malaise, and headaches. More severe cases can lead to confusion, seizures, coma, and even be life-threatening. SIADH is often a symptom of an underlying medical condition, rather than a primary disease itself.

The broader condition is SIADH.
