Wrong Name or Date of Birth on Your Pharmacy Label? How to Get It Fixed

· 2 min read

A typo in your name or date of birth can cause pickup delays and mix-ups. Here's how to ask the pharmacy to correct your label and profile.

Short answer: If your name or date of birth is wrong on a label, tell the pharmacy right away and ask them to correct your profile, not just the label. Then check that the medicine itself is yours and that future labels show the fix.

First: is it really yours?

A wrong name or birth date can be a typo, or it can mean the bag belongs to someone else. Before anything else, check the medicine, strength, and prescriber against what you expect. If you're unsure, don't take it, and talk with the pharmacist. See reading your bottle label.

Ask for a profile fix

At the counter: "My [name or date of birth] is wrong on this label. Can you correct it on my profile so future fills are right?" Bring ID if asked.

Ask for a new label

Ask them to reprint the label for the current fill with the correct details.

Check where the error came from

If your prescriber's office sent the wrong details, ask the office to update its records too. Otherwise the error may come back with your next new prescription.

Check your membership details

If your member account has the same error, contact support@thedrugclub.com or (424) 375-7114.

After a legal name change

If the label shows your old name, see after a name change.

Review everything on file

While you're at it, see check what your pharmacy has on file.
