Family Plan Math: When a Family Plan Beats Two Singles
· 2 min read
How a Family plan compares with separate Single plans when more than one person in your home fills prescriptions. Current prices are on the pricing page.
Short answer: Current Single and Family prices are on the pricing page. Two Single plans cost more than one Family plan, so when two or more people in the same household would each need a membership, one Family plan costs less in monthly fees. Confirm who in your household Family covers before you enroll.
The fee arithmetic
This is fee math only. It does not depend on which medications anyone takes.
| People who need a membership | Separate Single plans | One Family plan |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | One Single fee | One Family fee |
| 2 | Two Single fees | One Family fee |
For one person, Single is the lower fee. From two people up, one Family plan is lower than separate Single plans. Current prices are on the pricing page.
Fees are only half the question
A lower fee only matters if the membership fits the medicines your household actually takes. Before you choose a plan:
- List each person's prescriptions. Name, strength, form, and quantity per fill.
- Check each medication on the Medications page. Eligible medications are $0 with membership.
- Check the pharmacy each person uses. A participating pharmacy for one person may not be the one another person uses.
- Compare with today. Add up what the household pays now for those same fills, then compare it with the plan fee.
Who Family covers
The Family plan is for one household. Before you enroll, confirm who you can add, and add the right people from the start. If you have questions about a specific household, email support@thedrugclub.com or call (424) 375-7114.
Quick chooser
- Only one person fills prescriptions: start with Single.
- Two or more people in one household fill prescriptions: compare Family with separate Singles. Family is usually the lower fee.
- Someone's medicines are not on the list: that person may not need a membership at all. Run the check for each person.
Worked example
A couple both take ongoing medications. Each medication is on the eligible list, and both use participating pharmacies. Two Single plans cost more than one Family plan. In that case, Family is the simpler and lower-fee choice.
Now say only one of them takes a medication on the list. Single is the lower fee, and the other person can keep paying for their prescriptions the way they do now.
